The 2022-2023 school year will be my first year teaching full-time At Vertus. I spent my first four years at Vertus as a preceptor, where I also had the opportunity to teach two years of creative writing. My educational background includes a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester in a master's degree from The MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
What is your philosophy as a teacher?
I believe that every student has within them a passion for knowledge and understanding. As an educator, I must be willing to express my passion and thirst for knowledge in the most authentic way possible, hoping that same desire is recognized and harnessed by each student who walks through my classroom.
What motivates you to be at Vertus? (what is your “why?")
My “Why” is that I am aware of the impact members of the community had on my life, as well as opportunities that are not promised to everyone. I feel like it's one of my duties as an educator to help provide students with an environment where they can experience life-changing opportunities, and that's what we do here at Vertus.
Who are you outside of Vertus?
I am a man of God, a husband, a father, and a son. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and writing.
What is your motivational message for students, current or future?
Take advantage of the situation you're in now; remember, there are people in this building we love and care about you.
