Subject: SPED Teacher

How long have you been a teacher?

I have been a professional educator for seven years. I began teaching as an Graduate Assistant in the Sports Management and HPERD - Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance department at Virginia State University. I have worked in various districts in Virginia and here in the Rochester area. I also serve as a lead mentor for and organization in Washington D.C. for the 10 years.

What is your philosophy as a teacher?

As a lead teacher, my philosophy is centered around a four-part process for student learning, which are connect, create, contribute, and celebrate. The first area in my process is the tool of connection with all students and colleagues in effort of improving the student learning. On the other hand, as a teacher we must create different ways of teaching differentiated lesson to our students therefore they all can understand how to apply the knowledge given. However, with this philosophy process we must use the tool of contribution in conjunction with given our students feedback on their success of the lesson or information given. Lastly, the final piece of the process is celebration, when students are given the opportunity of being praise for doing their best
