I have been teaching for seven years. Prior to Vertus high school, I taught biology and biochemistry to first year university students.
What is your philosophy as a teacher?
Education should be experiential, active, interactive and learning by doing. My teaching philosophy aligns with Kolb’s experiential learning theory which states that when students take active role in their learning process, the student’s learning is optimized.
What motivates you to be at Vertus? (what is your “why?")
"My passion to work at Vertus high school relies mostly on my commitment to work in an urban education setting. Also the ability to provide my skills and expertise to marginalized communities, providing quality education to all learners thereby closing the achievement gap between various socio economic communities .
Who are you outside of Vertus?
I spend my free time with my family and friends while completing my thesis for my second Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Science Education.
What is your motivational message for students, current or future?
Time waits for nobody. "Make hay while the sun shines"
