Update – July 24, 2020
A Message from the Principal;
Looking ahead to the upcoming school year, a lot of questions remain about what school will look like, and when will we “return to normal.” The leadership of Vertus has been working hard to prepare students, families, and staff for a safe return to school for 2020–21. The health and safety of all students, faculty, and school communities remain our top priority. Feedback from varied internal and external stakeholders is an essential part of our planning. Students, parents, and staff were surveyed to help us better understand the concerns and questions individuals have as we consider a safe return to our school buildings.
Vertus, as a year-round school, continues to provide all students with access to high-quality instruction. While we understand distance learning has not been easy, Vertus staff will continue to work hard to ensure that your children have the materials and supports necessary to be successful.
At Vertus, your students’ social-emotional health and well-being are just as important as their academic progress. We believe that the strong relationships we develop with our students and families help us to meet the needs of every student. While we still maintain these relationships remotely, we believe strongly that in-person contact and instruction are vital to helping your student achieve character and academic growth. As such, we are considering a hybrid model that allows for continued remote instruction while still having small groups of students in the building on designated days in a safe way.
Our final plan will be posted on our website by Friday, July 31st. We will also mail copies home and communicate with families via your student’s Preceptor and teachers. We are looking forward to the new school year and working with our families to meet the needs of our students in the best way possible.
