Tory Van Voorhis is transforming education with solutions and ideas that reimagine learning. She is the Founder & CEO of Second Avenue Learning, an award-winning company that develops immersive learning experiences, driving measurable outcomes for students of all backgrounds and levels. One example is “Martian Math”, in which the game participants must answer math questions geared to their current level of learning in order to prevent alien invaders from Mars from stealing things from their virtual farm, amusement park, or town. Tory brings more than 17 years Ed-Tech experience to Second Avenue, and their games and simulations have received over 30 million play throughs in 35 countries. She has also served as a PI on US Department of Education and National Science Foundation grants.
Tory is passionate about supporting her local community. She serves on the Boards of Rochester Museum & Science Center, Rochester Downtown Development Corporation and Hunt Hollow Ski Club, and is Board Chair of Vertus Charter High School.
She received her undergraduate degree from Smith College, her master’s degree from New York University, and resides in Brighton, NY with her family.
