Subject: ELA Teacher

How long have you been a teacher?

I have been teaching for 22 years. I have worked in various districts around the Rochester area: suburban, private and at charter schools. I have also worked as a tutor with EnCompass Resources for Learning.

What is your philosophy as a teacher?

My philosophy is to 1st present an idea/skill, 2nd model for a class, 3rd work along side students, and 4th allow students to independently practice this skill or understand the idea presented. Its important to have students engaged as much as possible.

What motivates you to be at Vertus? (what is your “why?")

Our world is in need of more people who can think in a manner that will allow them to achieve great things and help raise up the society around them. Rochester in particular is a location that needs more young men who can achieve goals and build a stronger community. Our school provides this opportunity.

Who are you outside of Vertus?

I'm a husband and a father who loves his family. I enjoy cooking for them all, I was raised in an Italian household where meals were important. I am a movie buff and love to read. My girls and I love to play games as well as go on adventures. We take time to make as many camping trips as possible.

What is your motivational message for students, current or future?

The relationships you create, keep and condone with be the most valuable things you will have in your life. Choose wisely who you surround yourself with, choose wisely who you choice to be your partner in life, and choose wisely how you treat yourself.
