I have been an educator for almost 4 years now. Before Vertus I was a student at St. John Fisher College.
What is your philosophy as a teacher?
I believe 1 that you are never too old or experienced to learn. I make sure I remind my students that I learn from them just as much as they learn from me. 2 Education is the ONLY thing that no one can take from you so invest in it and take is seriously. Diplomas & Degrees can open more doors for you than you know.
What motivates you to be at Vertus? (what is your “why?")
Being able to show my students that you can be unapologetically you and still be someone who others can look up to. I want my students to know that whether they are black, brown, white, queer, introverted, extroverted, big, small they are special. I need our young men to know they can be whatever they want to be and they mean something to someone.
Who are you outside of Vertus?
I am loud, vibrant and confident. Some will say I am the life of the party! I am a daughter, sister, friend and a new mommy. One thing I love about me is that I am always evolving into a bigger and better woman.
What is your motivational message for students, current or future?
What one person eat does not make you fat. What is for someone else is for them. Comparing your progress to others will forever make you feel insecure. Water yourself and see yourself grow into the successful and beautiful person YOU are meant to be. Enjoy your journey.
