The Warrior Path to Mastery

At Vertus High School, academics are not just about earning credits; they are about developing disciplined thinkers, resilient learners, and young men committed to excellence.

Our blended Learning Model combines teacher-led instruction, mastery-based learning, and innovative technology to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Warriors are challenged to pursue mastery, perseverance, and continuous growth in everything they do.

Through a blended learning environment, students engage in rigorous classroom instruction while also advancing through personalized learning on Edgenuity, allowing them to move forward at a pace that reflects their effort and commitment.

Our Blended Learning Model

The Warrior Standard

At Vertus, learning is mastery-based. Warriors are expected to stay the course until mastery is achieved.

Students divide their time between:

  • Teacher-led classes, where they participate in engaging discussions, collaborative learning, and hands-on activities
  • Edgenuity online learning, where they strengthen understanding, practice skills, and demonstrate mastery of academic standards

This structure allows students to apply what they learn in class while reinforcing those skills online, ensuring deeper understanding and long-term success.

Warriors are not defined by how quickly they move through material, but by their commitment to mastering it.

Edgenuity

Personalized Learning for Warriors

At Vertus, we leverage Edgenuity, a nationally recognized digital learning platform, to support our mastery-based model.

Through Edgenuity, students can:

  • Progress at a pace that matches their effort and focus
  • Reinforce concepts introduced in their teacher-led classes
  • Receive immediate feedback and targeted support
  • Build independence and responsibility for their learning
  • Earn high school credit as they successfully complete courses

This platform allows our Warriors to take ownership of their academic journey while ensuring they have the structure and support needed to succeed.

Edgenuity does not replace teachers; it amplifies the learning experience by allowing students to practice, review, and master academic content in a structured digital environment.

Teacher-Led Classes

Where Learning Comes Alive

Our teachers lead dynamic classes designed to challenge, engage, and inspire.

In these classrooms, students are not passive learners.

Warriors are expected to:

  • Participate in thought-provoking discussions
  • Collaborate with peers to solve problems
  • Engage in hands-on learning experiences
  • Reflect on their thinking and refine their understanding
  • Apply knowledge to real-world situations

Because our program is mastery-based, grades reflect effort, perseverance, and demonstrated understanding rather than past academic gaps.

Our teachers create an environment where students are encouraged to push through challenges, ask questions, and never settle for less than their best.

The Preceptor

Accountability and Support

One of the most powerful supports in the Vertus academic system is the Preceptor. Each student is assigned a preceptor who serves as a mentor, advocate, and academic accountability partner throughout the school year.

Preceptors play a critical role by:

  • Ensuring students are present and engaged in class every day
  • Monitoring academic progress and Edgenuity mastery
  • Conferencing with teachers about student performance
  • Communicating regularly with parents and families
  • Coaching students through challenges and setbacks

Most importantly, preceptors use the strength of their relationships with students to ensure that no Warrior walks away from a challenge.

When a student struggles, the preceptor steps in to encourage, redirect, and remind him of the Warrior standard: never give up.

Year-Round Academics

The Warrior Advantage

At Vertus High School, learning does not stop when the calendar changes. Warriors train year-round.

Our mandatory Summer Session is not a separate program, it is a strategic extension of our academic year, designed to ensure that every student continues progressing toward mastery.

Rather than losing momentum over the summer months, our students remain engaged, focused, and committed to their goals.

During the Summer Session, Warriors:

  • Continue coursework from the fall semester to maintain and build academic momentum
  • Strengthen skills and close learning gaps through targeted instruction and Edgenuity mastery
  • Accelerate progress toward earning credits and graduation requirements
  • Develop discipline, consistency, and the mindset required for long-term success

This extended learning model allows our students to stay sharp, stay focused, and stay ahead.

At Vertus, we believe that success is built through consistent effort over time. The Summer Session reinforces our core belief that greatness requires commitment.

At Vertus High School, we believe that every young man has the potential for greatness.

Through our Warrior Learning Model, students learn that success is not given—it is earned through discipline, perseverance, and mastery.

Warriors are not just preparing for graduation.
They are preparing for college, careers, leadership, and life.
