Our teachers are learning engineers. Our students earn much of their course credit online in learning labs, supplemented by small group instruction. Teachers understand what students need; meet them where they are and help them progress; monitor their progress and keep them on track and motivated; and provide appropriate interventions. Teachers also teach daily small group classroom lessons. Our teachers are creative problem solvers, systems thinkers and team players.
Each Preceptor is 100% responsible for a Learning Team of 12 to 20 young men. Preceptors are guides, mentors, teachers and role models. Preceptors lead their teams throughout the school day, keeping them on track and motivated. Preceptors teach a daily character curriculum; work with students and families to develop and monitor goals for academics and character development; support and tutor students throughout the school day; and contribute to the school as their unique skills and experience dictate. Preceptors do not have to be certified educators but must be successful adults with demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and care for young men.
Our Deans are responsible for enabling positive student behavior and promoting consistent adherence to the Vertus discipline code and school rules. Reporting to the Head Dean, Deans work with all Vertus staff to ensure that the school is a safe, supportive learning environment.
We also hire learning lab tutors, technology managers, and operations staff. All staff are held to a high standard of professionalism, are accountable for results, and are great team players.
