Edgenuity Courses
Vertus offers online courses through Edgenuity. Each Edgenuity course is worth .25 credit. These courses are worked on independently in labs or off campus and allow students to work at their own pace.
Teacher Led Courses
Teacher Led Courses provide students with face-to-face instruction from one of our teachers or preceptors. These courses consist of electives, character education, and Regents Prep. Most Teacher Led Courses are worth .5 credit per semester (P.E. and Seminar are worth .25 because they only meet every other day).
Blended Courses
Blended Courses combine both Edgenuity and Teacher Led courses. These courses are both online and face-to-face. Once students complete both the online Edgenuity portion and the Teacher Led portion, they will earn 1 full credit (.5 for Edgenuity & .5 for TLC).
Credit Requirements
In order to graduate, you need a total of 22 credits. However, they must be the right credits. To meet NYS graduation requirements, you need:
- 4 ELA Credits
- 3 Math Credits
- 3 Science Credits (1 Physical, 1 Life)
- 4 Social Studies Credits (1 US, .5 PIG, .5 Economics, 2 Global History)
- 1 Art Credit
- 1 Foreign Language
- 2 PE Credits
- .5 Health Credits
- 3.5 Elective Credits
In addition, you will need to pass 5 Regents exams (1 per content area and 1 additional)
